Two races this weekend! Geoff, Maddie, Jason, and I headed to Baltimore for the Figgy Pudding run on Saturday. It was friggin' COLD and windy but it was fun none-the-less. We got free brew and coffee afterwards and then headed to brunch together. On the way back to DC, we stopped at Walmart and bought items for our costumes for Sunday's run....
So Sunday we headed to Hains Point (again!) for the Jingle All the Way race dressed as Santa (Geoff) and his reindeer (the rest of us). Geoff got crafty and made an amazing sleigh to go with his furry suit. Jason, Maddie, Elizabeth, and I had flashing LED antlers, bells on our shoes, funky knee socks, and reindeer names down our sleeves/pant legs. Jackets emblazoned with 'Run Run Reindeer' completed the look. We even had a sack of candy canes that we handed out during/after the run. We got LOTS of attention, LOTS of comments, and had LOTS of fun. Washington Running Report interviewed us afterward and Honestea took a promotional picture of us with their drinks because of our costumes. Lots of people wanted their pictures with us too---it was quite a trip. We had a blast! Elizabeth had to jet off (literally) but the rest of us went to brunch and celebrated Geoff's 29th birthday with homage Santa and reindeer cupcakes. :)
It was a sleep-deprived but great weekend full of fun, as it always is with the running crew! One more race this year then we're all sleeping in until the new year!
Check out the photos: Figgy Pudding and Jingle All the Way runs!
Onward the running crew goes with more races before the holiday. On 21 November, we did the Cranberry Crawl (I actually won second place in my age division--though we left before the awards. Geoff and Jason sweetly presented me with a loaf of cranberry bread the next day as my award!)
And on 5 December, we drove out to Reston to participate in the "Girls on the Run Reindeer Romp" to promote healthy lifestyles for little girls. We each 'ran' with a partner girl. It started out raining and got us all soaked. Then the temps dropped precipitously and it turned to snow--made for a pretty miserable wet, cold, snowy, and long run. But it was for a good cause! Afterward, we spent another hour or two in the freezing blizzard helping one of the little girls find her missing mom--before we just drove her home. We happened upon a downed tree in the road and, being good little Samaritans, we hopped out of the car and moved it from the roadway. On to brunch at Booeymongers (YUM) and a calorie re-up at Georgetown Cupcake to round out the morning. It's all captured in pictures under 'Cranberry Crawl/Reindeer Romp!'
Three more races before Christmas with the crew.....!
Started week one of six consecutive weeks of races with the Veteran's Day 10k at Hains Point with the running crew. Maddie, Elizabeth, Geoff, Jason, and I set out for the run then celebrated afterwards with brunch! Check out the fun pics under "Veteran's Day 10k"
Also hit up the Joshua Radin concert with Charlotte and Cale at the 6th & I Synagogue in Chinatown. GREAT show in an amazing venue. Those pics are under "Joshua Radin" concert. Lots of fun!
Cale and I are in the Bahamas! The view is amazing, the Atlantis is amazing, the beach is amazing, the activities are amazing--it's just insane.
We swam with stingrays this morning. We got to feed them, which was nuts--they literally knocked us over storming us for the fish bits. And then I got to hold one for awhile---soooo weird! After the stingrays were done with us--we got to hang out on a private beach. Then we hit the Straw Market for some, um, interesting times. Wednesday is the dolphin swim!
Pictures posted---and I'll update as we take more!
On Saturday, Robin and I went to Justin and Ashley's wedding in Morgantown. I can't believe he's actually married! Pretty ceremony--they both looked amazing. And damn good cookies! :) I had a blast with Robin and was happy to be a part of the big day for Ashley and Justin! Pictures are loaded!
So, after five years of living in DC, we FINALLY made the journey down to the Mall to watch the fireworks this year. Cale, Charlotte, Guerin, and I made our way there (then waited on Andy to arrive) before finding a prime spot between the Capitol and the Washington Monument to watch the fireworks. All in all, a very easy trip there and back. Check out the pics.
Eddie and I ran the Lawyers Have Heart 10k road race in Georgetown, DC a few weeks ago. Best part--they gave us sno-cones afterward!! Check out the pics!
